Dorothy Marion Tilley

Mrs. Dorothy Marion Tilley, 65, of Turner Mountain Road, Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday morning, June 8, 2011, at her home. She was born November 28, 1945, in Surry County, to the late Jerry Myra and Ethel Forrest Marion. She retired as a CNA from Northern Hospital of Surry County after 17 years of service. Dorothy was a member of Anchored In Jesus Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband, Alvin Tilley of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Tammie and Danny Holt of Mount Airy and Amy and Marty Reece of Dobson; a son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Penny Tilley of Mount Airy; grandchildren, Erica and Zack Hawks, Daniel Mauldin, Aaron Holt, Kasey and Garland Creel, Cole and Amanda Reece, and Noah Reece; a great-grandchild, Jaysey Reece; two great-grandchildren on the way, baby Hawks and baby Creel; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Versie and Bobby Marsh and Alma and Jim McMillan, all of Mount Airy; a special friend, Mary Lowe of Dobson. The funeral service will be held Friday, June 10, 2011, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson, with the Rev. Larry Stone and the Rev. Bill Watson officiating. Burial will follow in the Turkey Ford Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home. At the request of Mrs. Tilley, flowers should be omitted and memorials be made to her grandchildren's college fund, established at Southern Community Bank, ATTN: Kevin O'Neal, P.O.
