Mrs. Dorothy Mae Edmonds White, 92, of Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday night, March 30, 2016, at Golden Living Center. Mrs. White was born February 15, 1924, in Surry County, the daughter of the late James Pink and Lizzie Simpson Edmonds. Dorothy retired from Hanes Brands and was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Mount Airy. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda W. and Joseph Collins of Ararat; a son and daughter-in-law, Donald R. and Sue White of Mount Airy; her grandchildren, Tina and Tony Kinnan and Maria Collins, all of Ararat, and Wendy and Jason Pegram of Winston-Salem; her great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Grace Hall and Dylan Hall; two sisters, Ruby Edmonds Newman and Mary Edmonds Harvey, both of Mount Airy; and a special friend, Paul Cruise of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. White was preceded in death by her husband, William F. White; an infant son, Ronnie White; a sister, Marie Edmonds Turner; and two brothers, Victor Edmonds and Rex Edmonds. A graveside service will be held Saturday, April 2, 2016, at 2:00 PM at Skyline Memory Gardens, with the Rev. Chris Benfield officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:30 until 1:30 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fellowship Baptist Church, 922 Banner Street, Mount Airy, NC 27030; or Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
