Dorsie Elizabeth Easter Combs

Mrs. Dorsie Elizabeth Easter Combs, 76, of 264 Flower Gap Road, Cana, VA, our precious wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, January 5, 2009, at her home. Mrs. Combs was born April 19, 1932, in Carroll County, VA, to the late Floyd and Nellie Easter Hall. She retired from Cross Creek Apparel, where she worked in quality control, and was of the Baptist faith. Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Carlie C. Combs of the home; two daughters, Teresa Edwards and Cheryl Easter and fiance, Bobby Meadows, all of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Ronald "Ronnie" and Jenny Combs of Mount Airy; four grandchildren, Duane and Tonya Edwards of Lowgap, Anthony Edwards and Angie Edwards and fiance, Jeff Tickle, all of Mount Airy, and Amber Easter of Cana, VA; three great-grandchildren, Heather Horton of Mount Airy, Benji Edwards of Lowgap, and Mindy Edwards of Cana, VA; two stepgrandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and two step-great-great-grandchildren; and two brothers and four sisters-in-law, Hennis and Lorraine Easter of Cana, VA, Haskell and Mary Easter, Bernell Easter, and Mildred Easter, all of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Combs was preceded in death by her step-father, Charles Hall; and three brothers, Harvey Easter, Hobert Easter, and Howard Easter, by a grandson Ricky Edwards and by a great grandson, Brandon Lee Horton. The funeral service will be held Thursday, January 8, 2009, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Randy Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in the Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 7:00 to 9:00 at the funeral home. A special thank you is extended to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care for their care and kindness shown to Mrs. Combs.
