Douglas Cleve Holder

Mr. Douglas Cleve Holder, 95, of Dobson, passed away Saturday morning, March 5, 2011, at his home. He was born December 22, 1915, in Surry County, to the late Everett Adam and Mary Fannie Steele Holder. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Cave. Mr. Holder was a farmer. Surviving are his wife of 72 years, Melba Freeman Holder of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Freeman Douglas and Sandra Kaye Holder of Dobson; three grandchildren, Myra Kaye Tucker, Melissa Renea Holder, and Jodie Rebecca Mathis and her husband, Bobby Mathis, all of Dobson; and a brother, Bronze Holder of Mount Airy. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson, with the Rev. Jerry Sizemore and the Rev. Willie Bryant officiating. Burial will follow in the Little Vine Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
