Douglas Robert Spurrier

**UPDATE***  Mr. Spurrier's service will be held today at 3:30 PM, Tuesday December 10 , 2019, inside the church, due in inclement  weather.

Mr. Douglas Robert Spurrier, age 68, of Shoals, passed away Friday, December 6, 2019 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born October 22,1951 in Lexington NC to the late Hovis Edgar Spurrier and Doris Ilene Hendrix Haymore. Mr. Spurrier was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church in Shoals and a retired IT specialist with R.J. Reynolds. He is survived by his loving wife, Melva Kay Tucker Spurrier; daughter, Nichole Spurrier Blanton; son and daughter –in-law, Tucker Douglas and Bambi Shelton Spurrier; grandchildren, Kylee Booker and Tanzy Ray Spurrier; sister and brother-in-law, Joni and Frankie Messer; brother and sister-in-law, Danny and Sandy Spurrier; and several nieces and nephews. There will be a graveside service conducted  Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at 3:30 PM  in the Fairview  United Methodist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Judes Children Research Hospital or to the Shoals Elementary Backpack Program. Moody-Davis Funeral Service in Dobson is serving the Spurrier family.
