Dr. James Louis DeLay Lamm

Dr. James Louis DeLay Lamm, 78, was born November 26, 1929, in Mount Airy, the son of the late Louis Marion Lamm and Gertrude DeLay Lamm. He was active in Boy Scouts as a youth and earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a member of the Golden Fleece Society. He then graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. Dr. Lamm, a veteran of the United States Army, spent his professional years as a child psychiatrist in San Francisco, CA. Dr. Lamm is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, William and Marilyn Lamm of Mount Airy; nieces, Dena Cook Moore and husband, Shane, of Winston-Salem, and Anne DeLay Lamm of Boone; and a nephew, Christopher DeLay and wife, Dr. Meredith Coone Lamm of Asheville. A graveside service will be conducted by the Rev. Ray Hanna on Wednesday, September 10, 2008, at 2:00 PM at Oakdale Cemetery.
