Dr. Ronald Keith “Ronnie” Jessup, 78, of Pinnacle, passed away peacefully at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson on Thursday, August 9, 2018. He was born November 9, 1939, in Surry County, to the late William Leffard and Sally Frances Chilton Jessup. Ronnie spent 58 years of his wonderful life married to the woman of his dreams, Brenda Jean “B.J.” Bennett Jessup, who adored him and supportively loved him through this journey. This gracious, loving, caring, kind, Christian man was known as “Daddy” to his two boys and “Poppy” to his six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Ronnie loved working outdoors at his home year-round and always had some type of project going. It was the inside family joke that he would often dig holes just to fill them back up because he loved working outside. Ronnie was a faithful servant of God for his entire life and dedicated his time at First Baptist Church of Pilot Mountain, where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. Throughout this journey, he shared his story of faith and belief in his Lord and Savior and how blessed he was by God to have one more day to praise the Lord and be with his loved ones. He worked at Piedmont Community Services for 30-plus years and retired several times, but kept going back because he loved his patients and fellow staff. He often expressed how working hard gave you a purposeful and full life and he certainly had just that. He will be loved and remembered by his loving wife, Brenda Jean “B.J.” Bennett Jessup; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ron and Gay Jessup and Grant and Kerri Jessup; six grandchildren, Rona Hawks, Taylor Jessup, Tyler Goad, Katherine Jessup, Hailey Jessup, and Alex Jessup; two great-grandchildren, Emma Hawks and Nathaniel Hawks; a sister, Carol Lee Jessup Hayden; and his nieces and several cousins. In addition to his parents, Mr. Jessup was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter, Allie Nicole Jessup. Our family welcomes you to rejoice with us to celebrate his amazing, loving, inspiring, and fulfilled life on Sunday, August 12, 2018, at 4:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Gene Sherrill, the Rev. Will Eads, the Rev. Mike Willard, and the Rev. Dennis Wilson. Burial will follow in the Pilot Mountain City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:30 until 4:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017.
