Dr. William Lloyd Grymes

Dr. William Lloyd Grymes, 78, of 218 Herring Street, Mount Airy, passed away Friday, April 6, 2007, at his home. Dr. Grymes was born November 10, 1928, in Shelby County, TN, to the late Eldridge Phipps and Sarah Woods Grymes. He was reared in Fulton, KY, and attended medical school at University of Tennessee at Memphis. He practiced family medicine in Lewisburg, TN, before moving to Mount Airy in 1964. Dr. Grymes retired April 1, 2006, after practicing medicine for 47 years. He loved to hunt and fish as a young man and, in his later years, he loved feeding the birds and squirrels that played in his yard. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Cary Herbert Grymes of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Sara Catherine "Cathy" and Dennis Wilmoth of Dobson; two sons and daughters-in-law, Colonel Robert Daniel "Dan" and Pattie Grymes of Chesapeake, VA, and Major William Irvin "Bill" and Christa Grymes of Fayetteville, GA (currently stationed in Iraq); eight grandchildren, Matthew Easter, Jordan Wilmoth, Lucas Wilmoth, Jake Grymes, Landry Grymes, Amos Wilmoth, Zack Grymes, and Macy Grymes; and a twin sister, Doris Miriam Grymes of Mount Airy. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 10, 2007, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Dennis W. "Bud" Cameron and the Rev. Bruce Johnson. Entombment will follow in the Skyline Memory Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Monday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
