Drema Kay Young Dowdy Dejager

Ms. Drema Kay Young Dowdy Dejager, 60, of 540 Allred Mill Road, Mount Airy, passed away Sunday morning, September 16, 2012, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Ms. Dejager was born February 12, 1952, in Raleigh County, WV, the daughter of the late Frank Young, Jr. and Hilda June Perkins Young. She was a certified nursing assistant for several years and a member of the Christian faith. She is survived by a son, Timothy (Brandy) Dowdy of Mount Airy; three daughters, Melissa Dowdy (Richard) Veler of King, Sharon Dowdy Goins of Pilot Mountain, and Dawn Dowdy (Leon) McDonnell of Houston, DE; ten grandchildren, Anthony Dowdy, Aaron Dowdy, Tyler Dowdy, Chelsea McDonnell, Victor Dowdy, Samantha Puckett, Zachary Goins, Jordan McDonnell, Alexander Goins, and Montana Goins; a sister, Brenda (Melvin) Shrewsberry of Wheaton, MD; and two brothers, David (Patty) Duvall of Silver Spring, MD, and Richard Young of Springfield, MO. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, September 18, 2012, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Ron Hall officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12:30 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home, and following the service at the home of Margaret Dowdy, 436 Granite Street, Mount Airy. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017.
