Dwain Leonard Marsh

Mr. Dwain Leonard Marsh, age 73, of Galax, VA, passed away at Forsyth Medical Center on February 1, 2021, surrounded by his loved ones.  He was born August 11, 1947 to the late Roma Leonard Marsh and Ludie Catherine Moser Marsh.  Dwain served two years in the Army.  He and his wife of 28 years shared a love of the beach (Daytona) and spending time with their family.  He had a love for animals, and his special sidekick, Elsa.  Dwain loved to hunt, and fish and he loved to work in his garden.  He loved cooking and feeding his family and making sure all those grandbabies were taken care of.  He shared a special bond with his Cali Grace.  She and Dwain almost shared the same birthday by four hours, and they talked every day.  Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Kathy Marsh; children, David Marsh (Melissa), Susan Hill (David) and Katie Ali (Ahmad); grandchildren, JD Gammons (Cidney), Casey Gammons, Derrick Hill, Tara Hill, Cali Windle, Lacy Marsh, Carley Marsh, Ashley Johnson (Kirk), Cody Hull, Alex Hull; great-grandchildren, Ellie Gammons, Sophie Leftwich, Tucker Leftwich, Elijah Strickland, Hallie Johnson, Jack Johnson; father-in-law, Dean Vaughan; siblings, Janie Mooney (Dewey), Tim Marsh (Janet), Randy Marsh; several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Marsh was preceded in death by a nephew, Doug Mooney and his mother-in-law, Minnie Vaughan.  A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 4, 2021 in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home at 2:00 pm with Rev. Zane Fishel officiating.  In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.  The family would like to thank Twin County Hospital and Forsyth Medical Center for their care of Dwain during his sickness.  The family will accept friends and family at the home of David Marsh, 128 Cox Ford Road, Ararat, NC 27007 or Kathy Marsh, 1440 Martha’s Knob Road, Galax, VA 24333.
