E. Nelson Hunt

        Mr. E. Nelson Hunt, age 96 of Stuart, passed away Saturday, August 12, 2023, at the home of his caregiver, Bonnie Goad.  He was born on August 8, 1927, in West Virginia to the late Truman Hunt and Edra Leachman Hunt.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ware Hunt, and two sisters, Helen Flippin and Donice McKamey Hanby.

         Nelson was a longtime member of Stuart United Methodist Church.  He was purchasing agent and traffic manager at the J.P. Stevens Plant in Stuart and retired from the credit department with First National Bank in Stuart.  He was a World War II veteran with the United States Navy.  He was an avid golfer, enjoyed hunting, and sharing the history of Stuart with friends and family.

         Surviving is a son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Dianne Hunt of Stuart, three grandchildren, Emily Hunt, Olivia Hunt, and Molly Hunt, one brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Betty Hunt of Stuart, his special caregivers, Bonnie and Jimmy Goad of Laurel Fork, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

         Funeral services will be held Friday, August 18, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor Tommy Shepherd officiating.  Burial will follow in Patrick Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Stuart Church of Living Water, P.
