Mr. Earl James Byington, 76, of 203 Garden Terrace, Mount Airy, passed away Saturday, June 6, 2009, at his home. Mr. Byington was born February 23, 1933, in Bristol, TN, to the late William Marshall and Eva Robinson Byington. He was a retired mechanic and a member of the Baptist faith. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Earlene and Brad Long of Decatur, AL, and Sherry and Marty Wall of Pilot Mountain; a son, Rick Byington of Charlotte; eleven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Worley Byington of Bristol, TN. In addition to his parents, Mr. Byington was preceded in death by a sister; and six brothers. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 9, 2009, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Todd E. Byrd and the Rev. Will Eads officiating. Burial will follow in the Pilot Mountain City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12:30 PM until the time of the service at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
