Mr. Earl Lee Parks, 66, of 1350 Siloam Road, Mount Airy, passed away Friday morning, February 25, 2011, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Parks was born October 18, 1944, in Surry County, son of the late Robert Lee and Margie Elizabeth Holyfield Parks. Earl was a lifelong tobacco farmer and gardener. He was a member of Rock Hill Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Margaret Wilson Parks of the home; a daughter, Diane Parks Holt of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, John Earl and Tiffany Parks of Mount Airy; three grandchildren, Caitlyn Holt, Sophia Parks, and Carly Edmonds, all of Mount Airy; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Louise and Johnny Hamlin and Maedell and Rex Quesinberry, all of Mount Airy, and Ann Parks of Patrick Springs, VA; a sister-in-law, Rachel Robertson Parks of Mount Airy; several nieces and nephews; a special aunt, Hattie Forbes of Newington, VA; a special uncle, Marvin Holyfield of Anchorage, AK; and his mother-in-law, Virginia Reynolds Martin of Mount Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Parks was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Bruce Parks. The funeral service will be held Sunday, February 27, 2011, at 3:00 PM at Rock Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Lee Johnson and the Rev. Ted Crotts officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to the Rock Hill Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o David Key, 879 Key Road, Ararat, NC 27007. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
