Earlene Yvonne Smith

Mrs. Earlene Yvonne Phillips Smith, 85, of Mount Airy, passed away Saturday morning, December 22, 2018, at her home.  Mrs. Smith was born August 13, 1933, in Surry County, one of eight children born to the late William Robert and Viola Calloway Phillips.  Yvonne was a homemaker and a member of Hope Church.  She is survived by her husband, M.B. “Smittie” Smith of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan Kay and Noel Parker of Mount Airy and Elizabeth Ann and Robertus Mooijekind of Pilot Mountain; a son and daughter-in-law, Lavern Dale “Vern” and Betty Ann “Skokie” Roberts of Galax, VA; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Tina and James Newsome of Chattanooga, TN; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by two sisters, Imogene Marion and Lorene Creed; and four brothers, Alton Phillips, Don Phillips, Foley Phillips, and Ralph Phillips.  The funeral service will be held Monday, December 24, 2018, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with Dr. Craig Edwards and the Rev. Stewart R. Mauck officiating.  Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends Monday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
