Mr. Edgar Jackson Flinchum, Jr. age 80 of 133 Cox Drive, Mt. Airy. NC husband of Mrs. Ruby Hill Flinchum passed away Monday, October 23,2006 at his home. He was born June 13, 1926 in Surry County, NC to the late Edgar Jackson Flinchum, Sr. and Rena Mae Flinchum Flinchum. He was former owner operator of Flinchum Oil Company. Mr. Flinchum was a member of Bannertown Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon and in other capacities. He had served in the US Navy during World War II. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ruby Hill Flinchum of the home, a daughter and son-in-law, Forrest F. Connell and David , Mt. Airy, NC, a son and daughter-in-law, Edgar Jackson Flinchum, III and Kaye, Mt. Airy, NC, six grandchildren and spouses, Amy and Scott Quesinberry, Mt. Airy, NC, Suzanne and Edward Sanchez, San Antonio, TX, Ed and Haw Shen Flinchum, Nashville, TN, Misty and Darren Utt, Mt. Airy, NC, Christy and Daniel Goins, Mt. Airy, NC, Chip and Angela Flinchum, Roanoke, VA. 11 great grandchildren, two sisters and a brother-in-law, Sue Mae and Dr. Edward Sutphin, Mt. Airy, NC, and Geraldine Johnson, Mt. Airy, NC, two brothers and sisters-in-law., Ralph and Ludie Flinchum, Mt. Airy, NC, Gilbert and Ruby Flinchum, Mt. Airy, NC. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, October 25, 2006 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel of Mt. Airy conducted by Rev. Todd Byrd and Dr. Rick Jackson. The family will receive friends 10:00 AM Wednesday at Moody Funeral Home until the hour of the memorial service.
