Edith Irene Golding Booker

Mrs. Edith Irene Golding Booker, 83, of Mount Airy, passed away Sunday, March 14, 2010, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was born January 26, 1927, in Carroll County, VA, to the late Emmett Pierce and Hazel Carlen Golding. She was a retired WIC aide with the Surry County Health Department, was a member of Zion United Methodist Church, and attended Mount Airy Wesleyan Church. Surviving are a daughter, Virginia "Gini" Carlene Booker Steinberg of Cumming, GA; a son and daughter-in-law, Warren Randall and Denise Booker of Mount Airy; four grandchildren, Alicia Booker Farris and her husband, David, Margaret Tiffany Booker Burkeholder and her husband, Jason, and Joshua Clay Booker and Bambi Susanne Shelton, all of Mount Airy, and Ginifer Blair McLendon Sanders of Alpharetta, GA; and four great-grandchildren, Cordavan Skye Sanders, Eric G. Sanders, and James G. Sanders, all of Alpharetta, GA, and Kylee Susanne Booker of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Booker was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Miller Booker. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at 2:00 PM at New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Richard Loman officiating. There will be no formal visitation. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017.
