Edith Annetta Hawks Combs Jones

Mrs. Edith Annetta Hawks Combs Jones, 79, of Cana, VA, went to be with her Lord and Savior from her home on Saturday evening, December 11, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Carroll County, VA on September 12, 1942, to the late Lonnie Clarence Hawks and Grady Easter Hawks. Edith retired from Carroll County School System and was a faithful member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church. Left to cherish her memory are her son and daughter-in-law, Aaron Lorenzen and Amanda Combs; grandchildren, Candice Combs, Aaron C. Combs and fiancé Julie Gillespie, Keesha Combs Hoffman and Donald Bingman, Karlee Combs and fiancé Jacob Edwards. Great-grandchildren, Maddyson Hoffman, Layla Hoffman, Amerie Hoffman, Dakota Hoffman, Kenadi Combs, Kora Bingman, Jordan Hall and Kaysie Danley. Great-great grandchildren Isaiah Danley, Addison Outlaw, Maycee Hall, Madalyn Hall, and Maverick Hall. A sister and brother-in-law, Eveline and Raymond Goad; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her first husband, John Archie Combs; her second husband, Herman Cecil Jones; two sons, infant Eddie Lorenzo Combs, and Avery Combs; a sister, Rosa “Rosie” Ethel Hawks; and by two brothers, Joseph Ellis Hawks and Clarence Hawks. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Oak Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery with the Reverend David Sechrist officiating. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the Combs-Jones family.
