Edith Belle Midkiff McPeak

Mrs. Edith Belle Midkiff McPeak, age 98, of Mt. Airy, passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at Surry Health and Rehabilitation in Mt. Airy.  She was born on December 30, 1924, in Surry County to the late Dock and Willie Belle Mitchell Midkiff. She was a faithful member of Haymore Memorial Baptist Church for many years.  She was also a volunteer at Northern Surry Hospital for many years, and as well she had served as a  Teachers Aid at Mt. Airy City Schools.  Left to cherish her memory are daughter and son-in-law, Patsy Carter (Eddie); Benny McPeak (Janet), David McPeak (Nancy); grandchildren, Ken McPeak (Susan), David McPeak, Jr. (Emily), Brian McPeak (Adrian), Beth Painter (Jeff), great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Matthews, Brianna Matthews, Ava McPeak, Carter McPeak,  as well as several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. McPeak was preceded in death by her husband, William Glenn McPeak; sisters, Ethel Tesh, Macy McKnight, Levia Eads, Doris Johnson; brothers, Ralph, Glenn, and Dave Midkiff.  A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Haymore Memorial Baptist Church with services conducted by Rev. Robert McCrary.  Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Saturday, from 12:30 PM until time for the service at the church.  The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Surry Health and Rehabilitation Center for all the care given to Mrs. McPeak during her stay there.
