Edith Owen

Mrs. Edith Carol Johnson Marion Owen, 78, of Mount Airy, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday morning May 23, 2021 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family.  She was born in Surry County on April 29, 1943 to the late King Brady Johnson and Mary McHone Johnson.  She was a loving wife (E), mother, Nanny, sister, and friend (EE) to all.  Edith retired from Surry County Schools after 27 years of dedicated service.  Edith was a faithful and loyal servant of her Lord and Blues Grove Baptist Church.  Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 52 years, Paul Alfred Owen, Jr.; her son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Christy Marion; her daughter and son-in-law, Pepper and Chris Smith; grandchildren, Alex and Wes McGarry, Ethan and Lauren Marion, Jordan Smith, Jared and Madeline Marion, Cydna Anne Smith, Chase Draughn, and Tyler and Drew Draughn; great-grandchildren, Sarah Parker McGarry, Beck McGarry, Nichola LaFace, Booker Dale Marion, Emerson Draughn, Sarah Jane Lawson, and Julie Anna Lawson; sisters and brothers-in-law, Georgia and Bill Lundy, and Linda and Danny Martin; sister-in-law, Betty Sue Johnson; and by several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Owen was preceded in death by her first husband, Lonnie Dale Marion, Sr.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Patty June and Harvey Stafford, and Jo Anne and Randall Bryant; and by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Clayton and Peggy Johnson, and Eugene and Mildred Johnson.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Blues Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Travis Sechrist and Rev. Sammy Lawson officiating.  Burial to follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends on from 12:00 – 2:00 PM at the church on Wednesday.  Memorial donations in memory of Edith may be made to Blues Grove Baptist Church.  To send flowers to Edith's family, please visit our floral store.
