Mrs. Edith Cline Wilson Sheets, 93, of Pilot Mountain, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away Sunday evening, March 2, 2008. Mrs. Sheets was born February 7, 1915, in Surry County, to the late George Robert and Mallie Mae McDaniel Wilson. She leaves a great legacy as a mother, a woman of strength, strong faith, and dignity. She was a homemaker, a volunteer in her community, and well known for her baked goods. She gave many years of service to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Mrs. Sheets endeavored in numerous ways throughout her life to make life a little better for others. She was an example of great courage, endurance, and sweetness. Her faith strengthened our family. She lived a long and meaningful life, creating a circle of friends along life's journey. She will be dearly missed by her entire family and by all that had the privilege of knowing her. She is survived by twin daughters and a son-in-law, Linda L. Sheets of the home and Peggy S. and Galen Myers of Dubois, WY; a son and daughter-in-law, C. Wayne and Jane B. Sheets of Mount Airy; twelve grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Wall of Jacksonville, FL; a brother, Aldine Wilson of Newport News, VA; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sheets was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey Clarence Sheets; a daughter, Edith Kaye Smith Adams; a son, Jimmie Lee Sheets; four sisters, Ruby Shackelford, Ruth Cook, Sarah Calloway, and Janie Cummings; and three brothers, Bishop Wilson, Jack Wilson and James Wilson. The funeral service will be held Thursday, March 6, 2008, at 11:00 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 121 Golf Course Road, Pilot Mountain. The service will be officiated by Bishop J.C. Haymore, Jr., and burial will follow in the Pilot Mountain City Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the church one hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home and the staff of Central Continuing Care for their compassionate and dedicated service to their mother and grandmother. They would also like to express their gratitude to their friends for their prayers and support.
