Mrs. Edith Isaacs Thompson, 90, of 136 Isaacs Road, Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday morning, August 29, 2012, at Golden Living Center. Mrs. Thompson was born March 22, 1922, in Surry County, the daughter of the late Melvin and Lucinda Snow Isaacs. Edith graduated from Lowgap High School and retired from Quality Mills. She is survived by three sisters-in-law, Lillian Hicks Isaacs of Mount Airy, Marie Bartley Isaacs of King, and Pearl Thompson Brooks of Dobson; numerous nieces and nephews; and numerous great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Franklin Thompson; three sisters, Dora Leftwich, Stella Cheek, and Helen Smith; and four brothers, Ephraim Isaacs, Melvin "Mellie" Isaacs, Charlie Isaacs, and Joe Isaacs. The funeral service will be held Friday, August 31, 2012, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Tony Holder officiating. Burial will follow in the Flat Top Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
