Edna Lawson Cockram

Mrs. Edna Lawson Cockram, age 90 of Meadows of Dan, passed away Monday, August 14, 2006 at Twin County Regional Hospital in Galax. She was born in Patrick County on March 11, 1916 to the late Turner M. and Agnes Shelor Lawson. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cockram was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur G. Cockram; two brothers, Madison "Matt" Lawson and Floyd Lawson; and three sisters, Anna Lawson, Ida Cruise and Orene Harris. She was a long-time member of Conner's View Primitive Baptist Church in Meadows of Dan. Mrs. Cockram is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Ann Cockram of Meadows of Dan, Garland and Margie Cockram of Woolwine, Gary Cockram of Meadows of Dan and Michael and Darlene Cockram of Meadows of Dan; eight grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ellis Lawson of Salem and Guy Lawson of Floyd; and four sisters, Lila Buchanan of Christiansburg, Irene Simpson of Martinsville, Wilma Padgett of Parkville, Maryland and Clara Desper of Cloverdale. Funeral services for Mrs. Cockram will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Conner's View Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Edward Bowman officiating. Burial will follow in the Alex Cockram Cemetery in Vesta. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at the church.
