Mr. Edward Eugene Dearborn Jr., age 78, of Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Dearborn was born in Springfield, Massachusetts, on July 7, 1946, to the late Edward Eugene Dearborn, Sr., and Grace Small Dearborn. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, who will surely be missed. Mr. Dearborn faithfully served in the US Navy, he was a man of many traits, with him retiring as a diesel mechanic. He loved to talk and never met a stranger; he was a people person. Mr. Dearborn is survived by his loving wife, Judy Dearborn; daughter, Robin Combs; son and daughter-in-law, Steven Dearborn and Judy; grandchildren and their spouses, Allison Combs, Priscilla Dearborn, Ashley Marie Johnson and Matt, Nathan Goad and Andie; great-grandchildren, Talon Dearborn, Tyson Galloway, Jeremiah Goad, Trinity Goad, Olivia Goad, Ethan Johnson; his mother, Grace Small Dearborn; sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda Burnette and Danny, Janet Wanczyk, Debbie Pelletier and Joey; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ralph David Smith and Sonya; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, Mr. Dearborn was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Wayne Dearborn; brother-in-law, Walter. A funeral service will be held Monday, February 3, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy with the Rev. Steve McCreary. A burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, February 3, 2025, at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy from 12:00 PM until time of the service. The family would like to thank the staff at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home and Michelle, Wendy, Michael, Kathy and Michael with Adoration Home Health; Hazel with Home Instead for all the care and compassion shown to Mr. Dearborn during the last few months. The family would also like to thank everyone who has visited and called and supported them with their thoughts and prayers. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial donations may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice PO Box 325, Dobson, NC 27017 or to Mt. Carmel Baptist Church 123 Mt. Carmel Church Road, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
