Edward Clay Deatherage

Mr. Edward Clay Deatherage, age 63 of Charlotte, NC passed away on Saturday March 22, 2008 at his home. He was born in Surry County on May 11, 1944 to the late Charles Ray Deatherage and to Edna Norman Baker.
He was a self employed Insurance agent, and was a veteran of the US Army. Surviving are his wife Mrs. Judy Ratledge Deatherage of the home; his mother Edna Norman Baker of Elkin; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law John and Karon Ratledge of Wilkesboro, NC; a niece Lauren Ratledge of Wilkesboro, NC; a nephew Justin Ratledge of Wilkesboro, NC; two special friends David Taylor of Hendersonville, NC and Tommy Varnadore of Florence SC. A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday March 26, 2008 at Crestwood Memorial Gardens in Elkin with Rev. Foy Lloyd conducting. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to Hospice/Palliative Care-Charlotte Region 1420 East 7th Street, Charlotte, NC 28204 or to the Humane Society of Charlotte, 2700 Toomey Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28203
Their will be no formal visitation at the Funeral Home and the family will meet in the cemetery for the services.
