Mr. Edward Carson Hill, 83, of Mount Airy, passed away Friday, February 26, 2010, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Hill was born February 8, 1927, in Stokes County, to Edward Verlin and Celia Humphries Hill. He served our country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Surviving are his loving wife of 56 years, Betty Throckmorton Hill of the home; two daughters and a son-in-law, Alesia and Gary Nester of Ararat, VA, and Lavonda Goad of Mount Airy; a son, Edward Todd Hill of Ararat, NC; grandchildren, Carissa Valentine, Shanda Blevins, Mandy Sawyers, and Cody Nester; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Ellen Stanley and Frances and Grover Stanley, all of Mount Airy; and a brother, Joe Hill of Dobson. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hill was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ruth Stanley; and two brothers, James Hill and Mack Hill. The funeral service will be held Monday, March 1, 2010, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Kenneth Young and the Rev. Rickey Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens, with full military rites conducted by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Sunday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at the funeral home. The family would like to express their deep gratitude to Mount Airy Dialysis Center for the wonderful care given to Mr. Hill during his treatments there.
