Mr. Edward Martin Snow, 62, of Mount Airy, passed away Friday, April 15, 2011, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. He was born September 24, 1948, in Surry County, to Myrtle Linville Snow Cole and the late Teddy Snow. Mr. Snow served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He retired from the United States Postal Service and was a member of New Life Baptist Church. Mr. Snow is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Shelia and Bob Marshall of Charlotte and Brittany Renee Snow of Mount Airy; a son, Ritchie Snow of the home; three grandchildren, Gavin Marshall, Faith Ann Marshall, and Mace Snow; his mother and stepfather, Myrtle and Wain Cole of Mount Airy; a brother, Emanuel Lee Snow of Yadkinville; and his fiancée, Karen Rippey of Mount Airy. The funeral service will be held Monday, April 18, 2011, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Gray Kirkman and the Rev. Dwight Sechristi officiating. Burial will follow in the Snow Family Cemetery, with military honors by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030 or the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care and the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home for the exceptional care Mr. Snow and his family was given during his illness.
