Elaine Lawson Mick

Elaine F. Mick, age 69, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2020, at Dunmore Plantation in Dobson, North Carolina. Ms. Mick was born February 17, 1952, in Mt. Airy, NC to the late Harvey Lawson and Mary Ruth Lawson. Following a career as a legal administrative assistant and paralegal in Florida and Alabama, she divorced and returned to Mt. Airy in 2010 to be close to, and help care for, her aging Mother. She prepared taxes for many clients at the H&R Block office in Mt. Airy before a series of strokes left her with vascular dementia, and unable to care for herself. She loved flower gardening, cooking for her family, and rock and roll music, especially Neil Diamond. She is survived by her son, Chad Mick, of Salisbury, NC and a stepson, A.J. Mick; sisters, Elizabeth M. Lawson of Mt. Airy and Judy (Bob) Knudtson of Sarasota, FL; brother, James H. Lawson of Winston-Salem, NC; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Ms. Mick was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Katherine (Bob) Hoffman of Indianapolis, IN.
