Rev. Elbert Clinton Hall, age 81 of Ararat, VA, passed away Friday, October 15, 2010 at Baptist Hospital. Rev. Hall was born in Patrick County, April 8, 1929 to Benton Calvin and Sylvia Marshall Hall. He was a minister for forty nine years, forty three of which was at Willis Gap Baptist Church. Surviving is his devoted wife, Fathie "Toots" Gwyn Hall of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Delight Marshall of Ararat; Mary and Monty Venable of Mt. Airy; Dean Richardson of Patrick Springs; a son and daughter-in-law, Layton and Kathy Hall of Ararat; grandchildren, Vance Marshall, John David Marshall, Karen Mabe and husband Tony, Kenny Hall and wife Jessica, Chase Weathers, Jessica Richardson; great grandchildren, Abby Mabe, Katie Mabe, Makayla Hall and Breanna Hall; and a brother, Homer Hall of Ararat. In addition to his parents, Rev. Hall was preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy Richardson; sisters, Ann Corn and Polly White; a brother, Calvin Hall, Jr. and a son-in-law, John Marshall. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, October 18, 2010 at Willis Gap Baptist Church by Rev. Billy Stegall. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at Moody Funeral Home of Mt. Airy. Rev. Hall will lie in state at the church thirty minutes prior to the service.
