Elbert Lee Lawson

Mr. Elbert Lee Lawson age 79 of 1580 Christian Road, Westfield, NC husband of Mrs. Jane Hawks Lawson passed away Saturday, September 1, 2007 at his home. He was born March 3, 1928 in Stokes County, NC to the late Roy and Lelia Hill Lawson. Mr. Lawson was a veteran of World War II having served in the US Army. He was a retired farmer and carpenter and was a member of the Albion Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Jane Hawks Lawson of the home, two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie and Connie Lawson, Eddie Dean and Priscilla Lawson all of Westfield, NC, six grandchildren and two spouses, Tina and Donald Redd, Robert Dean Lawson, Shane and Amy Myers, Jennifer Martin, and Ronnie Lee Lawson, Jr. all of Westfield, NC and Crystal Myers, Winston-Salem, NC, five great grandchildren, two sisters, Clara Mills, Pinnacle, NC, Jewel Gray, Stuart, VA, a brother and sister-in-law, Alvin and Barbara Lawson, Mt. Airy, NC. In addition to his parents, Mr. Lawson was preceded in death by a son, Elbert Leon Lawson and a sister, Inez Stewart. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, September 3, 2007 at Albion Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Joe Beck and Rev. Odell Sisk. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted at the graveside by VFW Memorial Honor Guard Post 2019 Mt. Airy and Post 9436 Pilot Mountain. The family will receive friends 7-9 PM Sunday night at Moody Funeral Home Of Mt. Airy where his body will remain until taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service.
