Elder Walter Ivan (Pug) Branch of Lowgap went home to be with the Lord on Saturday May 19, 2007 at Northern Hospital of Surry County in Mt. Airy. He was born in Surry County, on August 31, 1926 to the late Jim and Mary Bet Jones Branch. He was a member and Elder of Fisher River Primitive Baptist Church of Dobson. He is survived by his loving wife, Lena Wilson Branch of the home; four daughters and their husbands, Ellen and Ray Baird of Rural Hall, Nellie and Tommy McCann of Mocksville, Debbie and Bernard Jarrett of Greensboro, and Darline and Ricky Watts of Mount Airy; one step daughter and her husband Norma and Virgil Crouse of Lowgap; one step son Lewis Lowe of Lowgap; one daughter-in-law Denise Wall Branch Snyder, wife of deceased son Reverend Wallace (Pete) Branch. Other surviving family members include; two brothers and their wives Wendell and Annie Branch and Eugene and JoNell Branch all of Mt. Airy; two sisters Isabelle and Sam Haymore and Dorothy and George Cave all of Dobson; eleven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, nine step grandchildren and fourteen step-great grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Lorena Haynes Branch; one son Wallace Ivan (Pete) Branch; step son Thomas Lowe; four brothers Monroe, Elgin, Dillard and O'Neal Branch; four sisters Pearl Badgett, Ossie Beasley, Betty Hawks and Nannie Simmons. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday May 22, 2007 in the Fisher River Primitive Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Church Cemetery. Elder Steve Moseley will officiate the service. His body will remain at Moody-Davis Funeral home in Dobson until carried to the Church to lie in state 30 min. before the services. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 7 until 9 P.M. at Moody-Davis Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care 401 Technology Layne Suite 200 Mt. Airy, NC 27030. The family would like to thank the staff of Northern Hospital of Surry County Second Floor, Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care for the love and care given to Mr. Branch.
