Elder Donnie A. Conner

           Elder Donnie A. Conner, age 81 of Stuart, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2019 at Stanleytown Health and Rehab.  He was born in Patrick County on October 8, 1937 to the late Posey and Naomi Mize Conner.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Gary Steve Conner; four sisters, Evelyn Salmons, Essie Conner, Ruth Pack, Virginia Hylton; and four brothers, Jewell, Linwood, Alvis, and LeRoy Conner.  Elder Conner had served in the US Navy and had retired from Pillowtex where he served as a Supervisor and worked in the sewing room.  He was an Elder for over 40 years with various Primitive Baptist churches and was a member of Community Primitive Baptist Church.

            Surviving are his wife, Lucy Fain Conner of the home; one daughter, Sandra Lynn “Sandy” Conner of Spencer; one granddaughter, Virginia “Ginny” Conner of Stuart; one daughter-in-law, Betsy Williams Conner of Stuart; one sister and brother-in-law, Viola and Richard Morrison of Stuart; several nieces and nephews; and a special caregiver, Ana Tejeda.

            Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 28, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Elders Lewis Vass, Kenny Bowles, and Tim McGrady officiating.  Burial will follow in Jacks Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with military rites by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard.  The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Dobyns Primitive Baptist Church c/o Lisa Greenwood, 147 Magnolia Lane, Claudville, VA 24076 or to Community Primitive Baptist Church c/o Brenda Ayers, 735 Clark House Farm Road, Stuart, VA 24171.  Online condolences may be sent to www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
