Elder David Alex Edwards

Elder David Alex Edwards, age 68 of Lambsburg, joined his Lord on Wednesday, June 15, 2016. Elder Edwards was born in Carroll County on December 26, 1947 to Alexander and Luanna Delanie Baker Edwards. He was a devoted Elder of the Primitive Baptist Faith. Surviving is his wife, Wilma Wilson Edwards; daughters and sons-in-law, Anna and Elder Rodney Marshall, Caroline and Elder Jonathan Kavanagh, Melissa Turner and fiancé, Kevin Johnson, Tammy Guynn, and Janie Thomas; sons and daughters-in-law, David Edwards, Jr. and wife JoAnne, Marcus and Kyndra Edwards, Duane and Jennifer Edwards and Caleb Edwards; twenty eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Virginia Galyean, Lucy and Steve Lindsay, Hattie Galyean, Mary and Haywood McBride, and Clara Sue Edwards; brothers and sisters-in-law, Elder Samuel and Merkie Edwards, George Edwards, and Bruce and Lettie Edwards, and J. J. and Linda Edwards; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Elder Edwards was preceded in death by a sister, Naomi Lindsay, and brothers, Daniel Edwards, Matthew Edwards, Isaac Edwards and John Edwards. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, June 17, 2016 at Chestnut Grove Primitive Baptist Church by Elder Rodney Marshall, Elder Larry Blevins, Elder Lacy Gates and Elder Joey Jenkins. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors by VFW Memorial Honor Guard, Grover King Post 115. The family will receive friends at the church Thursday night from 6:00 to 9:00. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice at 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
