Mrs. Electia Ball Marion, 95, widow of Mr. Gaston Marion, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at Central Continuing Care surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Marion was born in Surry County on January 13, 1914 to the late George Thomas and Lettie White Ball. A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, she was a homemaker and a faithful member of Salem Baptist Church as long as her health permitted. Left to cherish her memory are two daughters and a son-in-law, Elizabeth "Pete" Moser of Dobson and Peggy and Dub Golding of Lowgap; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jim and Effie Marion of Mount Airy and Ronnie Marion of Cana Va.; seventeen grandchildren; twenty four great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; four sisters-in-law, Grace Ball, Laverne Snow, Dorothy Mitchell and Gladys Hawks; a brother-in-law, Gilbert Nixon; two special friends, Jewel White and Lorene Hudson. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Marion was preceded in death by a son, Jackie Ray Marion. Her funeral service will be held at 2 pm Friday at Salem Baptist Church by Rev. Bill Hiatt, Rev. Bobby Lewis and Rev. Darrell Tate with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 pm Thursday at Moody-Davis Funeral Home and other times at the home of her son, Jim at 1449 Turner Mountain Road, Dobson. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Central Continuing Care, especially Linda, Freda and Martha for their love and care.
