Eliza Wood

Mrs. Eliza Victoria Stanley Wood, 90, widow of Mr. Howard Wood, passed away on Thursday May 31, 2007 at Northern Hospital of Surry county after an extended illness.
She was born in Surry County on July 21, 1916 to the late Elmer and Janie Childress Stanley. Mrs. Wood was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. Surviving are her children and spouses, James Wood and friend Treva Watson, Delmer and Carol Wood all of Dobson, Mary and Arnie Willard of Boonville, Betty and Kenneth Tobler of Mt. Airy, and L. V. Wood and friend, Debbie Reynolds of Boonville; 9 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and a great-great grandson. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Wood was preceded in death by an infant son, Dermon Wood; a daughter, Rita Wood and grandsons, Brent Adams and Chris Wood. Funeral services will be held at 4 pm Sunday in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home with Rev. Barlow Stanley, Rev. Jimmy Tucker and Rev. James Joyce officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Hermon Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 7 to 9 pm at Moody-Davis Funeral Home of Dobson. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Birciui, Dr. Corbin and the nurses and staff in the ICU of Northern Hospital of Surry County, and to her caregivers, Bonnie Monday, Joyce Stanley and Louise Amey for the excellent care they gave her.
