Mrs. Elizabeth “Lib” Bartley Ausburne, 94, of Mount Airy, passed away Saturday afternoon, October 23, 2021, at Surry Community Health and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Ausburne was born February 17, 1927, in Surry County, one of four daughters born to Elder Claude E. and Viola Matthews Bartley. Lib graduated from Lowgap High School in 1943. She worked as a bookkeeper for many years and was a member of Community Baptist Church. She is survived by her nieces, Shelby Burrow, Patricia Rominger, and Rebecca Davis; her nephews, Bobby Dean Isaacs, Junior Isaacs, Claude F. Royall, and Edgar Royall; her great-nieces, Angela Royall Edwards, Alyson Royall Kilby, Michelle Royall, and Sandy Burrow Moore; her great-nephews, Eddie Davis, Adam Davis (Pam), Greg Burrow, Bryon Rominger, and Brent Rominger; a special great-great-nephew, Dallas Dale Davis; a special friend and caregiver, Wanda Dillard; and special friends, Mr. and Mrs. Mickey Badgett, Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Carpenter, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Handy, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Moncus, and Mr. Bob Moody and staff at Moody Funeral Services. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ausburne was preceded in death by her husband, Vance Edison Ausburne; three sisters, Vergie Bartley Royall Tate, Marie Bartley Isaacs, and Valeria Bartley Williams; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Sanford A. and Minnie Goins Ausburne; and a sister-in-law, Helen Melbena Ausburne. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Community Baptist Church, with the Rev. Bradley L. Quesinberry and David P. Hiatt officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the church. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
