Elizabeth Edwards Hawks

Mrs. Elizabeth Edwards Hawks, 77, of 2278 Pauls Creek Road, Cana, VA, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2009, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Hawks was born July 10, 1931, in Carroll County, VA, to the late Henry Clay and Amelia Ann Virginia Hawks Edwards. She was a homemaker and a member of Sandy Ridge Primitive Baptist Church. Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Patsy and Macky Summers of Mount Airy, and Kathy and Edgar Crotts and Tina and Dwight Combs, all of Cana, VA; ten grandchildren and their spouses, Brian, Sr. and Shannon Crotts, Chad and Crystal Crotts, Ashley Boyd and fiance, Matt Bowman, Alex Combs, Victoria Elizabeth Combs, and Matthew Combs, all of Cana, VA, Kevin and Kasey Summers and Luke and Whitney Summers, all of Mount Airy, Amy and Robert Miller of Willow Springs, and Adrianne Boyd of Ararat, VA; eight great-grandchildren, Haley Crotts, Brian Crotts, Jr., Lauren Burkhart, Chase Summers, Zade Summers, Connor Miller, Kyndal Janice Wyatt, and Ryanne Elizabeth Lary. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hawks was preceded in death by her husband, Berlie Edward Hawks; a daughter, Janice H. Boyd; two sisters, Lelia Edwards and Bertha Payne; two brothers, Ben Edwards and Rupert Edwards; and a special niece, Shelby Bolen. The funeral service will be held Saturday, June 13, 2009, at 3:30 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with Elder Arwood Edwards and Elder V.J. Hawks officiating. Burial will follow in the Sandy Ridge Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive fiends Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at at the funeral home.
