Mrs. Elizabeth Eugenia Walker Moore, 94, of Dobson, loving wife of Mr. James Aubrey Moore, passed away at her home on Monday April 9, 2007 after a short illness. She was born in Davie County, NC on October 15, 1912 to the late Albert Crawford and Lena Mae Thomasson Walker. Mrs. Moore was a graduate of Appalachian State Teachers College and was a retired teacher from the Surry County School system where she taught seventh grade at Dobson Elementary School for forty-two years. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Mrs. Moore was a dedicated member of Dobson United Methodist Church. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her devoted husband of seventy-one years, James Aubrey Moore of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, James Aubrey, Jr. "Jim" and Elaine Moore of Laurel Fork, Va.; a grandson John Walker Moore and wife Tracy P. Moore of Oak Ridge, NC and a step great-granddaughter, Adrienne L. Windham of Oak Ridge, NC. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by a sister, Eva Poole and two brothers, Kelly D. Walker and "Doc" Walker. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday April 11, 2007 at Dobson United Methodist Church with Rev. Benny Hahn officiating. Burial will follow in Center United Methodist Church Cemetery in Mocksville, NC. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6 to 8 pm at Moody-Davis Funeral Home. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the American Cancer Society 500 East Morehead Street, Suite 2211 Charlotte, NC 28202.
