Elizabeth (Betty Kay) Vaughn

Mrs. Elizabeth Kay (Betty Kay) Separk Vaughn, age 75, of Mt. Airy passed away Wednesday December 23, 2015 at the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, N.C. Mrs. Vaughn was born March 6, 1940 in Forsyth County to the late Norman and Mary Elizabeth Berry Separk. She graduated from St. Mary’s College in 1960. Mrs. Vaughn was a trustee of Surry Community College for 27 years, where she served as chairman. She served as president of Reeves Community Center, and was an avid supporter of the Surry Animal Rescue. She had an extraordinary love for all animals. Mrs. Vaughn loved playing bridge with her friends, as well as deep sea fishing and golfing. She spent years covering in excess of 15,000 books for Millennium Charter Academy. Surviving are her husband of 54 years, C. Richard Vaughn, Sr. of the home; one daughter, Carol Vaughn Surratt of Mount Airy; one son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Carole Vaughn of Mount Airy; five grandchildren, Vaughn Surratt, Kaylyn Surratt, Elizabeth Surratt, Tre’ Vaughn and Kendall Jane Vaughn; one great granddaughter, Hadleigh Kay Surratt; one brother and sister-in-law, Norman (Chip) and Shelia Separk of Raleigh, N.C. A celebration of her life will be held at Cross Creek Country Club, 1129 Greenhill Road, Mount Airy, N.C. 27030 on Sunday December 27, 2015 from 4:00 until 6:00 PM.
