Mrs. Ella “Katherine” Self Brannock, age 85 of Mount Airy passed away peacefully Thursday April 11, 2024, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was born July 11, 1938, in Pulaski County, Virginia, to the late Vince McKinley Self and Virginia Carty Self Black. She was a loving wife, mother, and friend to the many that were blessed to have known her. She was a beautician for over 50 years, making many lifelong friendships along the way. Left to cherish her memory are a son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Debbie Brannock; grandchildren, Molly Brannock Metcalf and Doug, Abigail Brannock, Eric Brannock and Amanda, Stephanie Badgett and Freddy; three great grandchildren, Ava Brannock, Madison Badgett, and Ryder Badgett; sister and brother-in-law, Glenda Johnson and Burley; brothers, Edward “Sam” Self and Linda, David Self and Charlotte; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Brannock was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Douglas Brannock; son, Steven Clark Brannock; sisters and brother-in-law, Shirley Upchurch and Rev. Kenneth, Vonna Easter, and Betty Smith; brother William “Doug” Self. Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 14, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Community Baptist Church, with the Rev. Brad Quesinberry officiating.. The family will receive friends Sunday at the church from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.
