Ella May Draughn

Ella May Draughn of Elkin NC died peacefully on 29 September 2024. She was born 31 May 1944 to the late George Wyatt and Mary Ailene (Hawks) Jones. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband George Lee Draughn and siblings John Garnet Jones, Eldridge Yancy (E.L.) Jones and Mirlie Ethel (Jones) Johnson Dalton. Surviving siblings include Parley Joyce Jones of Mount Airy, Chester Harley Jones of Siloam, and Shirley Inez (Jones) Jenkins of Dobson. Aunt Ella had many caring nieces and nephews. 

For the last eight years Ella was a beloved resident at Chatham Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was an avid craft maker, enjoyed worship service and never missed bingo. The Jones family is indebted to the Chatham staff and healthcare providers that cared for Ella, treating her as one of their own family.

Ms. Draughn will be laid to rest in a private service at Blackwater Community Church. Kevin Jenkins, her pastor and nephew will preside over the graveside service.
