Ella Mae Hicks Hiatt

Mrs. Ella Mae Hicks Hiatt, age 92 of Mt. Airy, widow of Rev. Arnold "Boo" Hiatt, passed away Thursday, September 28, 2006 at her home. Mrs. Hiatt was born in Surry County to George Wesley and Betty Easter Hicks. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and was a member of Flat Ridge Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Mary Faye Hiatt of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Melvin and Artis Hiatt of Mt. Airy; Jimmy and Carol Hiatt of Cana and Nedie Hiatt of Mt. Airy; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and two nieces. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Hiatt was preceded in death by six sons, Marion Hiatt, Franklin Hiatt, Johnny Hiatt, Junior Hiatt, Billy Ray Hiatt and Donald Gray Hiatt and a sister, Margaret Clift. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, October 1, 2006 at Leonard Family Cemetery in Cana, VA, conducted by Rev. Dennis Bledsoe. The family will receive friends Saturday night from 7:00 to 9:00 at Moody Funeral Home and at other times at Mrs. Hiatt's home.
