Ella "Faye" Horton

Mrs. Ella “Faye” Portis Horton, 91, of Mt. Airy passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem.  She was born in Surry County on November 2, 1932, to the late Henry Robertson and Ada Martin Portis.  Mrs. Horton retired from Quality Mills and was a member of Faith and Gospel Church.  She was a loving mother, and sister who will be dearly missed.  She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Gloria and Roger Wright; a sister, Alice Portis Easter; two sisters-in-law, Delane Portis, and Patsy Portis; many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Horton was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Alden Horton; a son, Michael Alden Horton; sister and brothers-in-law, Allie and Grandville Easter, Ed Easter; brothers and sister-in-law, Jack Portis, Joe and Geraldine Portis, Glenn Portis, Thomas Portis.  A funeral service will be held Monday, December 11, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Alan Easter officiating.  Burial will follow in the Portis Family Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Monday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Jome in Mt.
