Mrs. Ella Guyer Golden ("Jim"), 88, of State Road, NC, died on Saturday morning July 25, 2009 at the Willow Brook Nursing Home in Yadkin Co. She was born in Surry Co. on October 2, 1920 to the late Robert S. Guyer and to the late Gertrude Isaacs Guyer. In addition to her parents her husband Walter Paul Golden, a son Roy Gray Golden, one sister Jackie Sloop and two brothers Walton Guyer and Sam Guyer, preceded her in Death. She was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church and was a Secretary at Mtn. Park Elementary School for over 34 Years. Surviving is a daughter and son-in-law Bonnie and Gary Collins of Advance, NC; four grandchildren Angela Joy Neal, Nicholas Gray Golden, Andrew Paul Collins, David BradLee Collins; seven great grandchildren Nathan, Olivia, Justin, Avery, Jackson, Gray, and Madeline; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Dolly and Jack Sloop of Jonesville, NC, Mary and Ivan Blevins of Rural Hall, NC; by two brothers and sister-in-law Joe Guyer of State Road, NC, Jake and Wilma Guyer of State Road, NC. "Jim" is survived by several loving nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 4:00PM on Sunday July 26, 2009 at Poplar Springs Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Mtn Park Cemetery. Rev. Steve Kramm will conduct the services. The family will receive friends at Poplar Springs Baptist Church at 3:00 PM before the services. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Poplar Springs Baptist Church, 193 Fellowship Way, State Road, NC 28676.
