Ellen Shirlene Gibbs

Mrs. Ellen Shirlene Martin Gibbs, age 75 of Stuart, Virginia passed away at her home on December 26, 2020.  She was born in Stanleytown, Virginia on March 30, 1945 to the late Jesse Leonard Martin, Sr. and Elvie Christine Moore Martin Foster. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jackie Ray Gibbs; one grandson, Brian David Newman; five brothers, Jesse Leonard Martin, Jr., Charles Daniel Martin, Bruce Wayne Martin, Stan Gregory Martin and John Keith Martin; and one sister, Marion Kay Martin. Ellen was married to the love of her life, Jackie for 57 years. She loved her family, her pets, and all wildlife a true animal lover. Ellen was generous and would give all to who ever was in need. She worked in the nursing home ministry in Patrick County and Martinsville. Ellen became saved and faithfully served and attended her church and truly loved the Lord.

Mrs. Gibbs is survived by one son, Jason Todd Gibbs and wife, Tanya of Stuart, Virginia; one daughter, Teresa Gibbs Newman and husband, James of Patrick Springs, Virginia; one grandson, James Gabriel Newman of Patrick Springs, Virginia; three step grandchildren, Christopher and Amanda Cobler of Mount Airy, North Carolina, Courtney Cobler of Huntington, West Virginia, and Britney Reynolds of Mount Airy, North Carolina; two step-great-grandchildren, Kaylen Grace Cobler and Trinity Haven Cobler; one sister, Elvie Christine Martin Setliff and husband, Charles of Mechanicsville, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service for Mrs. Gibbs will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Harvest Worship Center with Dr. David T. Coleman officiating.  Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
