Ellie Muething Strohl

Mrs. Ellie Muething Strohl passed away on Sunday, February 3, 2019, at the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, NC. She was 66, born January 23, 1953, in Covington KY, to Gerald Frederick Muething and Margaret Pendergast Muething.  Ellie was preceded in death by her parents and sister Maura Muething Glueckert. She is survived by her husband Bruce E. Strohl of the home; son, Ryan Guerra Strohl and wife Carrie of Alexandria, VA and grandson Garrett Rex Strohl. She is also survived by her  brother, Rick Muething and wife Marcia of Rockledge FL, her brother-in-law Larry Glueckert of Colorado Springs, CO, sister-in-law Barbara Solito and husband Tony of Bethlehem PA, sister-in-law Pam Calabrese of Macungie, PA and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

After graduating from the University of Cincinnati, Ellie embarked on a 15 year career as a Convention & Meeting Planner for several travel industry associations in Washington, DC. For the next 12 years, she found her true love in growing flowers and plants, working for two commercial growers in the Washington, DC area before opening her own business, Seasonal Plantscapes, in Mt. Airy. For the past 6 years she has managed the Staples Food Pantry at Trinity Episcopal Church, a community outreach program to feed the less fortunate.

Ellie was an avid sportswoman, teaching step and water aerobics for thirteen years, riding her bikes for miles and miles at a time and playing pickle ball for endless hours. Ellie will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and great friend to so many, with her tremendous sense of humor and quick wit. Although Ellie had a passion for flowers it is her desire that memorial contributions be made to the outreach programs of Trinity Episcopal Church at P.O. Box 1043, Mt Airy, NC 27030.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 9, 2019, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Airy with services conducted by Rev. Sarah Carper Morris. The family will receive friends from 9:00 am - 11:00 am at the funeral home.
