Ellis Junior Wood

Mr. Ellis Junior Wood, age 58, of Dobson, husband of Pamela Benton Wood, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday December 14, 2006. He was born in Surry County on October 16, 1948 to the late Pete, Jr. and Marylene Southard Wood. Mr. Wood was a self employed dry wall sub-contractor and was of the Baptist faith. A loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, Mr. Wood was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved the outdoors. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his devoted wife of thirty four years, Pamela Benton Wood of the home; two sons James Neil Wood and fiance Teresa Ann Fletcher and Joseph Brandon Wood all of Dobson. NC; five grandchildren, whom he adored, Tanner James Wood, Mason Ellis Wood, Payton Leighann Wood, Laken Nicole Mabe and Justin Wade Mabe; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen and Bob Marion, Linda Cook and Ann and Wayne Martin all of Mt. Airy, NC; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Buck and Phyllis Wood of Booneville, NC and Larry Wood of Dobson, NC; several nieces and nephews; special nephews and "buddies" John Goad and Scott Martin. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday at Mt. Herman Baptist church with Rev. Larry Stone and Rev. Barlow Stanley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Saturday at the church. His body will be taken back to Moody-Davis funeral Home where he will remain until taken to the church to lie-in-state thirty minutes prior to the funeral service. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
