Elmer Avis Huff

Mr. Elmer Avis Huff, 87, of Greensboro, passed away Friday morning, May 25, 2018, at his home.  Mr. Huff was born July 8, 1930, in Carroll County, VA, the younger of two children born to the late Walter Lee and Nancy Horton Huff.  Avis served our country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict, and he retired from US Air after 32 years of dedicated service.  He was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church in Mount Airy and attended Midway Baptist Church in Jamestown.  Avis was also a faithful member of the American Academy of Model Aviation and Guilford Battleground Company.  He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Hilda Jane Blue Huff of the home; a sister, Arlene Huff Brim of Winston-Salem; two nieces, Gail (Loggins) Brim of High Point and Elizabeth (Gravely) Brim of Greensboro; a nephew, Taylor B. Brim, Jr. of Winston-Salem; two great nieces, Leann L. Keen of Clemmons and Stephanie Gravely of Greensboro; and many relatives and extended family.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Huff was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Guy Roger and Ola Marion Blue.  A service of worship and celebration of Avis’ life will be held Sunday, May 27, 2018, at 3:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Mark A. Reece, Jr. and the Rev. Charles Mustain officiating.  Burial will follow in the Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:30 until 3:00 PM at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Piney Grove Baptist Church, P.O.
