Elmer Gray Tilley, Jr.

Mr. Elmer Gray “Junior” Tilley, Jr., age 73, of Mt. Airy, passed away Friday, August 24, 2018, at the Woltz Hospice Home.  Mr. Tilley was born in Surry County on November 9, 1944, to Ruby Gwyn Tilley and the late Elmer Gray Tilley.  He was a loving son, brother and friends to so many.  He will be dearly missed.  Among those who will always cherish his memory are his sweet mother, Ruby G. Tilley; a brother, Mickey Tilley; and aunts, uncles, several nieces and nephews and many friends.  In addition to his father, Mr. Tilley was preceded in death by a sister, Glenda T. Foster.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, August 27, 2018, at Pleasant View Baptist Church by Rev. Sammy Lawson, Rev. Davis Love and Rev. Kyle Samuels.  Burial will follow in Little Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Monday at the church one hour prior to the service.  The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Olympia Restaurant, Tilley’s Grocery and the Dairy Center for their special assistance over the years and also to the Woltz Hospice Home for the exceptional care during his stay there.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Woltz Hospice Home at 945 Zephyr Rd.., Dobson, NC 27017.
