Elois Cain Simmons Jessup

Mrs. Elois Cain Simmons Jessup, 91, of Mount Airy, passed away Friday afternoon, October 27, 2017, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mrs. Jessup was born June 4, 1926, in Surry County, one of five children born to the late William Walter and Hattie Mae Greenwood Cain. Elois retired from Renfro Corporation after many years of service and was a member of Slate Mountain Baptist Church. She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ronnie Gray and Debbie Absher Simmons and Gary Wayne Simmons, all of Mount Airy; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jessup was preceded in death by her first husband, Reginald “Reggie” Simmons; a son, Charles Ray “Charlie” Simmons; two sisters, Ollie Hicks and Annie Thomason; and two brothers, Carl Cain and Wade Cain. The funeral service will be held Monday, October 30, 2017, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Mike Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at the funeral home. At other times, the family welcomes friends to the home of Gary Wayne Simmons at 154 McBride Road, Mount Airy. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the love and compassion shown by the 3rd Floor Skilled Nursing staff at Northern Hospital of Surry County and the staff at Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care. Also, the family is grateful for the tender, loving care of Elois’ special friend, Donna O’Neal.
