Elsie Bowman

Mrs. Elsie Louise Lankford Bowman, 92, of Mt. Airy passed away Thursday, July 26, 2018 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.  She was born in Patrick County on September 6, 1925 to the late Ruff and Emma Lowry Lankford.  Mrs. Bowman was a faithful member of White Plains Baptist Church.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend.  She is survived by her daughter Dorothy “Dot” Bowman; a son Clyde “Glenn” and wife Imogene Bowman; grandchildren, Cynthia Parks, Randall Bowman and wife Carrie, Melissa Hawks, Pebbles Evans and husband, Garry, Brad Bowman and wife Rachel; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Isabella and Luca Parks, Randall Bowman, Jr. and wife Hali, Allison McMillan and husband Truston, Amy Russell, Raine and Abigail Bowman, Alex Hawks, Mercedes and Houston Wright, Cameron, Cole and Chase Bowman; great-great grandchildren, Keyana Martin and Rilee Bowman; and sisters Betty Hundley and Jackie Dollyhigh; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bowman was preceded in death by her husband Frank Akers Bowman; a daughter Linda McBride; sons, James “Akers’ Bowman and Jerry Bowman; a sister, Margaret Fain; and brothers, Junior, Bill, and Haywood “Buck” Lankford.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 31, 2018, at White Plains Baptist Church with Rev. David Tucker, Rev. Bill Tucker and Rev. Tom Delph officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the church Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.  Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to White Plains Baptist Church, 614 Old U.S. 601, Mt. Airy, NC 27030 or Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mt. Airy, NC 27030.  The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Stinson and the staff of the Palliative Care Unit at Forsyth Medical Center, Mountain Valley Hospice,  the staff at Surry Community Health and Rehab and care giver Carolyn Spraker for the wonderful care given to Mrs. Bowman during her illness.
